Teenagers

I am inspired by the resilience and growth of my teenage clients. I love helping teens discover their unique abilities and conquer their challenges.  Having the opportunity to work with teenagers is truly meaningful to me.

Teenager Therapy

Parenting a teenager is no easy feat. Whether they are dealing with peer pressure, social media obsession, relationship issues, academic stress, or more, teens today have more on their plates than ever. Maybe they dump all their problems on us and expect us to fix everything. Or maybe when we try to talk to them about what is bothering them, they shut us out. Either way, as a mom myself, I know how hard it can be. We want to help our teens, but we often don’t know how.

I help tweens and teens unlock their inner potential and find success. Using a warm, inviting, and empathic approach, I know how to connect with adolescents on their level. I build trust so that teenagers want to share their struggles with me. I provide a supportive space where adolescents feel valued and heard.

In today’s fast-paced world, there are many issues teens and tweens struggle with. Some of the areas where I help are:

  • Anxiety and worry
  • Social anxiety

What teen therapy with me looks like:

When I work with teenagers, I believe in the power of building a strong connection. That is why I take the time to really get to know my teen and tween clients- their likes, dislikes, and what makes them tick. It’s a real privilege to be invited into their inner world, and I don’t take that trust for granted.

I encourage my teenage clients to guide their own therapy sessions. I actively listen to their goals and aspirations and help them take the necessary steps to achieve them. In addition, I adjust my therapeutic approaches to align with their preferences. For example, if a teenager shows interest in art, sandtray, or games, I incorporate these activities into our sessions to make the therapy experience more engaging and effective. When I work with teens, they are in the driver’s seat; I am simply a co-pilot who is there to support, guide, and encourage them to tap into their inner strengths to succeed.

I want every teenager that I work with to feel safe and secure, knowing that what they share in our sessions will remain strictly confidential. It is crucial for adolescents to know they have a protected space to express their thoughts, feelings, and concerns without fear of judgment or disclosure. I take confidentiality seriously while adhering to ethical and legal standards to protect the privacy of my teenage clients and promote a therapeutic environment based on trust and respect. I also provide a safe and inclusive LGBTQ+ affirming environment where my clients can freely explore their individual identities with warmth and acceptance.

Counseling for teenagers

The most rewarding part of my work with teenagers is witnessing positive changes in their lives while they emerge from our sessions with increased self-esteem, improved coping skills, and a newfound sense of self.

I am here to support your tweens and teens, guiding them through their challenges and helping them thrive during these important years. Call me to set up a complimentary 15-minute consultation, and let’s talk about ways I can help.
